We are the Pescanova Biomarine Center Museum.
To access the Pescanova Biomarine Center Museum you will cross a huge wave, through which you will discover:
NUEVA PESCANOVA GROUP
The history of Nueva Pescanova, from the construction of the world’ s first freezer vessel in 1960 and the birth of the famous Rodolfo Langostino.
You will discover our activity through virtual experiences: fishing, farming, processing and marketing of seafood products: by visiting our most modern vessels, getting to know their characteristics and the different fishing methods, contacting our crews or discovering how we guarantee sustainability in our vessels.
In addition, you will cross a recreation of the zostera of the Arousa estuary (Pontevedra, Galicia), that leads to one of the jewels of our museum.
Keep reading to discover it!

THE FUTURE OF THE SEA
You will learn about the importance of marine ecosystems for life on earth, the problems of the seas and oceans and the challenges to be faced in the future in order to take care of them all together.
You will be surprised by the ecosphere: a self-contained and self-sufficient ecosystem invented by NASA.

FARMING THE SEA
Did you know that aquaculture started in China over 3,000 years before Christ? And that just 580 of the 250,000 species that live in aquatic ecosystems including fish, crustaceans, cephalopods, molluscs and algae can currently be farmed in aquaculture?
Here you will discover the benefits of aquaculture, the keys to ensure a responsible and sustainable aquaculture practice. You will also discover the main milestones during more than 5,000 years of aquaculture history in the world. Graphic murals that mix illustration with animation or an interactive aquarium that provides information on these 580 farmed species. This interactive system even allows you to launch the fish into the water from the control station!

RESEARCH AT PESCANOVA BIOMARINE
One of our researchers will amaze you at our underwater laboratory. He will introduce you to the different technologies used in aquaculture and explain how hydrophones or sea microphones work after selecting the species you want to listen to. You will also learn how oxygen, temperature and pH of the water can be measured using different sensors, and how an aquatic drone works. Discover how Artificial Intelligence and Big Data are used in aquaculture to ensure animal welfare.
Before you leave, we invite you to enjoy a 360º virtual reality experience that will impress you: You will visit our research center, see our octopuses and turbot swim, among many other surprises!

A SEA OF HEALTH
Thanks to the efforts of the 10,000 people who make up the Nueva Pescanova team around the world, we bring the best of the sea to our consumers’ tables. We are committed to the conservation of marine ecosystems and practice responsible fishing and sustainable aquaculture.
Our last section explains the health benefits of seafood consumption in an interactive way.
We look forward to seeing you!
